Mosquitoes Test Positive For West Nile In 14 CT Towns, Including Greenwich, Stamford
State officials announced that the West Nile virus has been detected in 14 towns throughout the state, including Greenwich and Stamford.
The Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station (CAES) said the infected mosquitoes were found across the region including Stamford, Chester, East Haven, Groton, Hartford, Manchester, New Haven, North Haven, North Stonington, South Windsor, Voluntown, West Haven, and Wethersfield.
In addition, eastern equine encephalitis virus-infected mosquitoes have been detected in two southeastern towns including Voluntown and Madison.

One Dead, One Rescued After Skaters Fall Through Ice On Lake Near Route 1
One man was killed and another was rescued after the two fell through the ice on Rogers Lake, just north of Route 1 (Boston Post Road), in Old Lyme late Saturday afternoon, Jan. 26.
The incident occurred around 3:15 p.m. when the two were ice skating.
Harry Jewett, 60, of Old Lyme, did not resurface. After a search-and-rescue operation, his body was recovered around 4:30 p.m., state police said.
His friend, Larry Buhl of North Haven, 51, was rescued after clinging to a chunk of ice while up to his shoulders in the freezing water, according to police. He was hospitalized with hypothermia.
Milford Police Officer Charged With Negligent Homicide In Pedestrian Strike
A Milford Police officer has been charged with negligent homicide in connection with the July 20, 2018, death of a 50-year-old pedestrian who was hit and killed by the officer.
Courtney Bothwell, 28, of North Haven, was charged Wednesday, Jan. 2, by Hamden Police following an investigation into the crash on Dixwell Avenue, in the vicinity of Old Dixwell Avenue, said Hamden Capt. Ronald Smith.
According to Smith, the investigation revealed that Kristin Wilczynski, 50, of North Haven was attempting to cross the street when she was struck by a motor vehicle that was driven by Bothwell.
