Off-Duty DC Housing Authority Police Sergeant Shot, Officials Say
An investigation has been launched in Northeast DC after an off-duty District of Columbia Housing Authority Police Sergeant was shot, according to officials. At around 5 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, members of the Metropolitan Police Department were called to the 2200 block of New York Avenue NE when a sergeant was struck by gunfire while riding in his personal vehicle. The sergeant was treated by DC Fire and EMS personnel and taken to an area hospital with undisclosed injuries. Senator's Staff Member Carjacked At Gunpoint In Northeast DC
A staff member of Alabama Sen. Katie Britt's team was reportedly carjacked in Northeast DC earlier this week. According to a police report, the staffer parked in the 1200 block of E Street and was walking to her building when an armed suspect demanded her keys and other property, to which she complied. The carjacker then took off in her vehicle. A family in Northwest DC is reeling after a 16-year-old was shot and killed leaving his high school in another act of violence in the District. Maurice "Moe J" Jackson, of Northeast DC, was walking at around 3:45 p.m. on Sept. 26, when he began talking with another group of teens, police say. The death of a man whose body was found in a burned apartment building in Northeast DC has been ruled a homicide, the Metropolitan Police Department announced.
