Police Identify Alexandria Teen Killed In D.C. Shooting
Police have identified a teen who was killed in a Northeast D.C. homicide on Saturday, July 9, officials said. Damari Wright, 17, of Alexandria was found inside a vehicle at around 5:30 p.m. at the 3500 block of Hayes Street, the Metropolitan Police Department said. He had suffered apparent gunshot wounds, but showed no signs of life, officials said. Terrifying Armed Robbery Spree Targets Mailmen Across DC, Maryland
Six United States Postal Service mail carries were robbed at gunpoint and assaulted in the spans of two days across Washington DC and Maryland, officials said. The suspects made off with "a wide variety of items that the postal service provides their carriers to do their jobs on a daily basis" along with personal property, according to USPIS spokesman Michael Martel. A motorcyclist being chased by police officers crashed on a Northeast D.C. street, reports NBC Washington. The early morning chase led to the motorcyclist hitting a pole at Benning Road and Oklahoma Avenue NE shortly before 3 a.m., reports the outlet.
