SPCA Investigates Animal Sacrifice After Decapitated Goats, Chickens Found In Melville
An animal sacrifice investigation is underway after the remains of five decapitated chickens and two decapitated goats were found on the side of a Long Island road. The Suffolk County SPCA received an alert from the Suffolk County Police Department on Sunday, Sept. 11, that dead animals were found in black plastic garbage bags in Melville, the SPCA reported. The remains were found on the side of Round Swamp Road about 100 feet south of Exit 39 of the Northern State Parkway, according to the report. Ramp Closure Planned On Ramp To Long Island Expressway In North Hempstead
State officials announced plans for an overnight ramp closure on a Long Island parkway. The New York State Department of Transportation announced that on Thursday, Sept. 1, the Exit 29A ramp from the westbound Northern State Parkway to the westbound Long Island Expressway (I-495) in North Hempstead will close overnight. Man Charged With Impaired Driving After Wrong-Way Hempstead Crash
A man has been charged with impaired driving after a wrong-way crash on the Northern State Parkway. It happened just before 7:10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2 in Hempstead. While a Chevy Equinox was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes, it sideswiped a Toyota west of Exit 35, state police said. There were no reports of any injuries at the scene. The driver of the Equinox, Travis Kyles, age 35, of Las Vegas, Nevada, refused a blood test and was arrested and charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor. 20-Year-Old Nabbed For Felony Gun Possession After Northern State Parkway Stop On Long Island
A 20-year-old man is facing felony charges after he was allegedly busted driving on Long Island with an illegal handgun in his car. Troopers stopped Matthew Solivan, of Queens, on the Northern State Parkway in Hempstead Wednesday, May 11, according to New York State Police. During the stop, troopers discovered that he had an illegal handgun with 10 hollow point rounds, police said. Solivan was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon, a felony. He was arraigned Thursday, May 12, at Nassau County First District Court.

Westbury Man Identified As Victim Of Fatal Single-Vehicle Crash
State police have identified a Long Island man who was killed in a single-vehicle crash. Nassau County resident Brandon Wilson, age 34, of Westbury, was killed just before 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13 on the Northern State Parkway near Exit 34 in the town of North Hempstead. According to Trooper Daniel Ahlgrim, Wilson was traveling eastbound on the parkway when the vehicle left the roadway, into the southbound shoulder, striking two trees and a light pole.
