A fire broke out inside a commercial garage in Tappan Friday evening, April 18, drawing a large mutual aid response from surrounding fire departments, officials said. A driver is lucky to be alive after his red sedan plunged into a massive sinkhole in Bergen County early Friday morning, April 4, police said. At approximately 5:35 a.m., the Northvale Police Department was dispatched to the area of 6 Volvo Dr. in Rockleigh for a reported road collapse involving a motor vehicle, according to a statement from Northvale police. According to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, the crash occurred around 5:58 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, in the southbound lanes of the Palisades Interstate Parkway near Alpine, New Jersey. Two Ohio men were arrested late Tuesday night, Dec. 10, after they tried to rob a local jewelry store in Bergen County and then led police on a brief foot pursuit, authorities said. Firefighters used a high-volume dry chemical extinguisher to help with a machine shop blaze in Northvale. The Livingston Street fire ignited shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday, May 16. The Paramus Fire Department’s Foam Unit provided a significant assist extinguishing flames on aluminum shavings that were placed in metal barrels and brought outside.
