The Norwalk Fire Department recently held a promotional and swearing-in ceremony, at Norwalk Fire Headquarters, welcoming new members, and promoting others.
During the event, probationary firefighters John Pomponio, Madeline Jankowski, and Gregory Petriccione were officially sworn into the department and Firefighter Jesse Granton, an 8-year veteran, was promoted to Fire Inspector, said Norwalk Fire Department Deputy Cheif Edward Prescott.

Fire Breaks Out In Massive Norwalk Home
Firefighters battled an early morning fire at a large, 6,500-square-foot home in Norwalk.
The fire broke out around 6:22 a.m. Wednesday at 4 Hilltop Road, in Norwalk, said the Norwalk Fire Department.
Arriving crews were met heavy fire showing from the gable end and the roof, the department said.
The fire, that was in the attic, caused the roof to collapse. In addition, there was smoke and water damage to the first and second floor, however, fire crews were able to protect the paintings and other valuables some being priceless.

Norwalk Man Saved By Combined Efforts Of Family, First Responders, Hospital Staff
A 53-year-old Norwalk man is alive thanks to the efforts of first responders and hospital employees after suffering a cardiac event.
Todd Boe, of Norwalk, knew he had a heart condition called dilated cardiomyopathy, which affects his heart’s ability to pump blood effectively, said staff with Norwalk Hospital.
But for the past several years, Boe's had been living with his condition successfully, until the evening of July 6, when for no reason he suffered a life-threatening cardiac event when he collapsed during a family dinner outing, they said.
