A police chase from Paterson to Newark ended with the arrests of three armed robbers after they crashed a stolen SUV on Route 21, authorities said. Detectives Yamil Pimienta and Mohammad Bashir stopped the Mazda CX5 – reported stolen out of Jersey City – near the corner of 10th Avenue and East 24th Street shortly before 9 p.m. Wednesday. Bergen County Woman Killed In Nutley Hit-Run
A 75-year-old Bergen County resident was killed Thursday night in a hit-and-run Nutley crash. Roseann Ratz and a friend were crossing the street near Washington Avenue and Rutgers Place when she was struck by a car around 7:30 p.m., Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Nutley Police Chief Thomas J. Strumolo said. Ratz, of Lyndhurst, was taken to St. Joseph’s University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead just before 8 p.m. The investigation is active and ongoing. No arrests had been made as of Friday afternoon.

Two people were struck and one killed by cars in a pair of separate hit-and-run crashes Thursday night in Essex County, authorities said. Katarzyna "Kasia" Tieluszecka of Toms River died Oct. 4. She was 38 years old. Kasia was born in Poland and moved to the U.S. when she was 10 with her family, and attended Wanaque High School while living in Haskell, her obituary says.
