The number of active COVID-19 cases in Rockland County is down after peaking at more than 1,500 late last week, but the number of patients hospitalized and the virus-related death toll are on the rise.
According to the county Department of Health, the number of active cases is at 1,478 on Monday, Nov. 30, down from 1,524 recently and up from 1,100 earlier in the month.
A total of 65 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized from the virus, up from 60, and there were two new virus-related deaths, bringing the total to 695 since March.

IDs Released For Suspect, Man Shot, Killed Outside Rockland County Bar
The identities of both a longtime resident Rockland County resident who was shot dead following an argument outside a local bar and the suspect have now been released.
According to the Orangetown Police, Gregory Dubuisson, 35, of Nyack, was shot and killed around 7:08 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 22, said Chief Donald Butterworth.
Dubuisson's body was found lying in the street after Orangetown officers responded to the area of Main and Franklin streets on a report of shots fired, the chief said.

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Rockland County has hit 1,100 as the infection rate continues to rise in one of New York's hottest spots for the virus.
According to the county Department of Health, the number of active cases consists of confirmed positive results dated within the last two weeks that have been reported to health officials.
There are a total of 1,116 current cases for the time period of Monday, Oct. 26, and Monday, Nov. 9.
The number of active cases is up from 872 earlier in the week, and there are now 34 people hospitalized, up from 19 on Monday, Nov. 9.
