Sunrise Highway Reopens After Man Struck, Killed By Car This story has been updated. A stretch of Sunrise Highway (Route 27) is reopened late Sunday afternoon, May 5 after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a car in Suffolk County. The victim, reportedly a man, was crossing the highway in Oakdale near Connetquot Avenue just past noon when he was hit. The man's identity has not yet been released. The hours-long closure occurred between Exit 47A (Oakdale-Bohemia Road and Exit 48 (Smithtown Avenue;/Locust Avenue in Suffolk County and began just before 12:30 p.m. This continues to be a developing story.
