Lakewood Man, 39, Gets 30 Years In State Prison For Fatal Shooting
A 39-year-old Lakewood man has been sentenced to 30 years in state prison for killing another man in 2016, authorities said. Merrill Spencer pleaded guilty on Nov. 22 to aggravated manslaughter, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer. He was sentenced on Wednesday before Superior Court Judge Rochelle Gizinski and has been held in Ocean County Jail since his arrest in June 13, 2016, Billhimer said. An ex-convict from Ocean County has been sentenced to 22 years in state prison for killing a man during a drug deal, authorities said. John T. Mullen, Jr., 51, of Seaside Heights was sentenced on an aggravated manslaughter charge on Monday by Superior Court Judge Guy P. Ryan. A 40-year-old man sexually assaulted a woman in a Jersey Shore assisted living facility in which he resides, authorities said. Two Toms River residents and an accountant from Brick Township have been arrested for stealing $1.5 million from two elderly relatives, authorities said.
