Man Airlifted After Jersey Shore Stabbing
A 36-year-old man was critically hurt in a stabbing early Thursday, authorities said. The man was found by Seaside Heights police about 3 a.m. in the 100 block of J Street, according to initial reports. The victim was suffering from multiple stab wounds in his stomach and had to be intubated, an unconfirmed report said. A medevac crew took the man to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office and Sheriff's Department CSI was notified. Ocean Beach Drowning Victim Identified
A 43-year-old drowning victim found lying on a Jersey Shore beach has been identified, authorities said. The body of Jennifer Jack of Lavallette was found unresponsive on the beach along the waterfront, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer. An ex-convict from Ocean County has been sentenced to 22 years in state prison for killing a man during a drug deal, authorities said. John T. Mullen, Jr., 51, of Seaside Heights was sentenced on an aggravated manslaughter charge on Monday by Superior Court Judge Guy P. Ryan. Mullen tried to steal Xanax from a 33-year-old Manchester man during a failed drug deal on Oct. 20, 2019, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer. Thomas J. Lacey PD: 'Shelter In Place' During Armed Standoff
Some residents of Lacey Township are being asked to "shelter in place in their homes," while police and the Ocean County Sheriff's Department negotiates with an armed man. Both law enforcement agencies issued an alert about 5 p.m. stating that Beach Boulevard will remain closed to traffic in both directions, between Waikiki and Molokai drives until it's deemed safe by police. Authorities arrested a Toms River man in connection with armed robbery at the Travel Inn and Suites. Daniel M. Balwierczak, 23, was charged with robbery, theft, assault and weapons charges on Wednesday, Lakehurst Police Officer Robert Schroeck said in a statement. Ocean County Brush Fire Ravages 100 Acres
Whiting Fire Company and the New Jersey Forest Fire Service contained a nearly 100-acre brush fire on Sunday near Harry Wright Lake in Manchester, authorities said. The fire had roared through about 20 acres when it was discovered, but burned another 80 acres before it was extinguished, according to a Facebook post from the fire company. Forked River Fire Department assisted. It was brought under control before reaching any homes, fire officials said. Middlesex County and Brick Township authorities are investigating the death of a woman. The woman's death is "suspicious," Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. A teenage driver died after losing control of his car and striking several trees near a golf course in Jackson, authorities said.
