A Newburgh man was sentenced to 20 years in prison for seriously injuring a man with a chain and padlock, fracturing the victim’s skull, according to the Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler.
Carlos Melendez, 29, was also sentenced by Orange County Court Judge Craig Stephen Brown to five years post-release supervision and one and one-third to four years for attempted to assault a second victim, the DA's office said.

A Middletown man was sentenced to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to possessing over eight ounces of crack cocaine, according to Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler.
Jmin Ward, 36, of Middletown, was sentenced Monday by Orange County Court Judge Craig Stephen Brown to prison, and five years of post-release supervision, the DA's Office said,
Ward had pleaded guilty in December to criminal possession of a controlled substance for having possessed over eight ounces of crack-cocaine, the DA said.

Newburgh Man Sentenced For Sexual Assault Of Child
A Newburgh man who sexually assaulted a child under the age of 13, was sentenced to five years in prison in Orange County Court.
Timothy Antonucci, 48, was arrested by New York State Police in April, for felony rape, and two counts of a committing a criminal sexual act, in addition to endangering the welfare of a child, according to the state police.
Antonucci, who was acquainted with the child, pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal sexual act, in connection with subjecting a child to sexual acts under a plea agreement last year.
