Man Who Fled From State Police Busted With Two Kilos Of Cocaine, Police Say A 35-year-old man was arrested after fleeing from New York State Police during a traffic stop and when caught, allegedly was in possession of two kilos of cocaine. Sherland W. Simpson, of Newburgh, was arrested around 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 6, following a traffic stop in the town of Woodbury, said Trooper Steven Nevel. Man Accused Of Committing Sexual Crimes Against A Child In Area, Police Say A 47-year-old man has been arrested for sexual crimes against a child. Orange County resident Chad Volpe, of Otisville, was arrested on Wednesday, Dec. 6, by New York State Police following an investigation of sexual conduct with a child, said Trooper Steven Nevel. According to Nevel, Volpe has been charged with felony crimes of: Course of sexual conduct against a child  Criminal sexual act  Sexual abuse  Volpe was arraigned by City of Newburgh Judge Peter Culkin and remanded to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail.

Man Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Child In Area A 24-year-old man was charged and arrested for allegedly engaging in sexual conduct with a child under 13. Luis Aguilar Guerra, of Newburgh, was charged on Thursday, Sept. 24 with the felonies of predatory sexual assault against a child, a charge with can carry a prison sentence up to 75 years, and second-degree criminal sex act.  He was sent to Orange County Jail without bail. The arrest is the result of a joint investigation between Child Protective Services and the New York State Police Child Abuse Unit.

New Windsor Man Caught With 500 Bags Of Heroin After Traffic Stop, Police Say Police obtained a warrant to search the home of an area man who was found in possession of 500 bags of heroin during a routine traffic stop.  Reportedly, additional heroin and packaging for distribution were found in the New Windsor home of 49-year-old Bobby D. Simmons.  Simmons was charged with the felony of fouth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.  He had two prior felony convictions, and was sent to Orange County Jail pending a future court appearance.

19-Year-Old Nabbed Out Of State For Area Rape, Police Say A 19-year-old man is behind bars for an alleged sexual assault after being caught out of state. The Orange County resident, Alex J. Oliveras, of Pine Bush, was nabbed by in Virginia on a warrant for a sexual assault in the Town of Montgomery, said Town of Montgomery Police Investigator Stephen Ragni. Oliveras is accused of committing the sexual assault before fleeing the area, Ragni.
