Gas Line Break Closes Roadway In Ramapo
A major roadway is closed in Ramapo due to a gas line break. Ramapo Police said Van Orden Avenue is closed to all vehicular traffic after the line was hit around 2:30 p.m. Friday by a contractor. Tallman Fire Department and Orange & Rockland Utilities are on scene. Motorists are asked to avoid the area.

Driver Hospitalized After Audi Crashes Into Utility Pole In Ramapo
A motorist was hospitalized after losing control of a car and driving into a utility pole. Members of the Ramapo Police Department and paramedics were dispatched to College Road early on Monday, Nov. 26, where there was a report of a one-vehicle crash involving a driver in an Audi. Upon arrival at the scene, first responders found the car, which sustained heavy front-end damage and the broken utility pole, which cracked on impact. Transformer Fire Causes Fuses To Explode In West Nyack
A fire inside a transformer at the Orange & Rockland Utilities substation in West Nyack caused three fuses to pop startling residents in the area. The incident took place around 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at the substation at 195 E. Route 59 in West Nyack, said Mike Donovan, spokesman for O&R. According to Donovan, a small fire broke out in the transformer located inside the substation. West Nyack firefighters were called to the scene and quickly extinguished the blaze, but during the process, the three fuses popped. No one was injured.

Mahwah Settles State Lawsuit Charging Township With Discriminating Against Orthodox Jews
Mahwah has settled a lawsuit brought by state authorities accusing the township of discriminating against Orthodox Jews primarily from Rockland County. A $350,000 payment from the town won’t have to be made if it can go four years without adopting any future ordinances “that impose similar, discriminatory restrictions,” Attorney General Gurbir S. Orange & Rockland Utilities has issued a new warning to its electric and gas customers about the latest rash of fake-bill payment scams. Imposters pose as utility company representatives and call customers, demanding immediate payment for what the scammers fraudulently claim are delinquent electric and gas bills. They call customers saying their O&R utility service will be disconnected if they do not make an immediate payment using a prepaid debit card or even a credit card. WEST MILFORD, N.J. – The pilot died in a small plane crash that ignited a fire Wednesday afternoon in a wooded area of West Milford that was once part of the former Jungle Habitat theme park, authorities confirmed. More Than 5K Rockland Customers Without Power
Orange & Rockland Utilities announced Friday that it hopes to have most of the power restored to Rockland County customers by end of Sunday night and Orange County residents by midnight Friday. Company officials said that as of noon Friday 5,897 customers were without power in Rockland County and 822 customers in Orange County. Downed Tree, Wires In Ramapo Causes Delays On Wilder Road
Motorists are being asked to use caution in the Wilder Road area of Ramapo while Rockland County Highway and Orange & Rockland Utilities employees work to remove a tree from the roadway, according to Ramapo Police. Smart Meter Installation Starts In Clarkstown
Orange & Rockland Utilities are installing smart meters in parts of the Town of Clarkstown. Customers will get an official notice indicating that they are approximately 10 days from receiving their smart meter.
