Worker Electrocuted In Jersey City
A worker was electrocuted Wednesday morning in Jersey City, officials confirmed. The 29-year-old man was operating a lift machine that struck a power line at 20 St. Pauls Ave., City Spokeswoman Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione said. He suffered injuries to his hands and toes and was taken to a local hospital. The incident was reported around 9 a.m. OSHA was notified and will be investigating, Wallace-Scalcione said. The contractor provided proof of permits for construction, but was issued a summons for sidewalk closure without a permit and a summons for no signage for the sidewalk closure.

A construction worker in North Jersey was killed after apparently being crushed by 6,000 pounds of porcelain that fell on him Monday, police said. A worker at a Moonachie printing company had the tips of three fingers severed in an industrial accident Monday, authorities said. The 31-year-old victim walked out of the 4Over Trade Printing plant on State Street holding up his hand -- the tips of his ring, middle and index fingers missing -- as Officer Frank Tamargo responded around 3 a.m., Sgt. Tree Worker, 28, From Passaic County Killed In Oakland Mishap
A 28-year-old tree worker was killed in Oakland on Tuesday when he was struck in the head by a wood chipper, authorities said. Members of the Oakland First Aid Squad and a paramedic unit from the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood joined police at the scene on Stony Point Road off Route 202 around 9:45 a.m., police Lt. Christian Eldridge said. A medical chopper was called for but then cancelled. The unconscious Pompton Lakes victim was later pronounced dead at the hospital, Eldridge said. Trucker Killed In Clifton Industrial Accident
A truck driver was killed when a load of pipe fell on him Thursday morning at an electrical construction company warehouse in Clifton, responders said. The mishap occurred at Thea Enterprises on Allwood Road shortly before 8 a.m., they said. A worker survived a fall of nearly five stories from an apartment building under construction in Hackensack on Wednesday, authorities said.
