Pedestrian Seriously Injured In Lake Ronkonkoma Crash: Police
A woman was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle in Lake Ronkonkoma, Suffolk County Police announced on Wednesday, Oct. 1.
The 63-year-old was walking southbound on Ronkonkoma Avenue, crossing Express Drive North, when she was hit by a westbound 2022 Toyota RAV4 around 7:50 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 30, according to detectives.
The Lake Ronkonkoma was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital, where she remains in serious condition.
The driver, Muhammad Afzal, 27, of Levittown, was not injured, police said. His vehicle was impounded for a safety check.

The crash happened on Thursday, Sept. 18, around 4:15 p.m. in the town of Thompson, at the Route 42 roundabout leading onto the Route 17 westbound on-ramp, New York State Police said on Tuesday, Sept. 23.
According to investigators, a 2012 Ford pickup truck driven by a 24-year-old resident of Shohola, Pennsylvania, entered the roundabout and attempted to merge onto Route 17 when it hit a pedestrian crossing in the crosswalk.

A Shelton man is accused of accelerating toward a pedestrian and striking them after a minor fender-bender before fleeing the scene without notifying police, authorities said.
