Jersey City Pedestrian Left With Limp Gets $675,000 Crash Settlement
A pedestrian who had several bones broken when he was hit by a Bergen County manufacturing company's vehicle while crossing a Jersey City street has accepted $675,000 to settle a lawsuit. Jose Rojas, 33, was crossing Barrow Street in a crosswalk when he was knocked down by a vehicle owned by a Moonachie company when its driver turned from York Street on Nov. 19, 2018, according to the NJ Law Journal. In what is reportedly the largest settlement in New Jersey history, the family of an Essex County mom who was paralyzed by a falling utility pole will get $125 million from Verizon, reports say. West Orange mom Maria Moser Meister, 50, was waiting for a bus on her way to work when a the pole fell in Union City on Jan. 23, 2017, NJ.com reports. A Morris County man is suing Walmart, saying his hand was severely injured by a worker who apparently rammed him with a shopping cart. Roxbury Township resident Nicholas Puco claims he sustained “severe and disabling injuries” to his left hand at the Walmart on International Drive South in Mount Olive Township on April 19, 2019. An Englewood homeowner was hospitalized Friday morning after falling from atop a ladder outside his house. The 60-something Lafayette Place homeowner was semi-conscious after falling while doing work on his house shortly before 9:45 a.m., Deputy Police Chief Gregory Halstead said. A man who suffered traumatic brain injuries and was left disabled after he was hit by a bus three years ago was awarded a $12.75 million settlement, The New Jersey Law Journal reported this week.
