$22 Murder: Man Ran Over, Killed Gas Station Worker On Long Island, Jury Finds
A Long Island man was convicted by a jury of killing a gas station worker after stealing just around $20 of gas.
Joshua Roston, age 38 of Baldwin, received his conviction on Friday, Oct. 27 for the 2019 murder of Cemal ‘John’ Dagdeviren, the Nassau County District Attorney announced.
At approximately 7:20 a.m. on Jan. 14, 2019, Roston pulled up in his GMC SUV to the Pit Stop gas station, located at 1210 Grand Avenue in North Baldwin.

A taxidermist in the region has admitted to improperly disposing of animal parts and other violations.
The Schenectady County business owner, who operates a taxidermy company in Glenville on Scotch Bush Road, pleaded guilty and paid a fine for Environmental Conservation Law violations on Monday, Oct. 3.
According to the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), officers executed a search warrant at the business in April 2023.

A food delivery driver was caught with her hand in the cookie jar after a doorbell camera caught her stealing a package from a Long Island porch, police said.
The incident happened on Sunday, Sept. 3 in Manhasset, according to Nassau County Police.
At approximately 4:30 p.m., 33-year-old Juliana Saggaram of Queens was on the clock as a DoorDash delivery driver.

Burglar Who Targeted Capital Region Businesses Nabbed Over Year Later, Police Say
A suspected burglar is facing charges more than a year after allegedly targeting multiple businesses in the region.
Columbia County resident James Smith, age 52, of Hudson, was arrested Wednesday, Sept. 20, in connection with a burglary at a Brunswick business in Rensselaer County in April 2022.
According to New York State Police, Smith broke into a business on Hoosick Road at around 4:40 a.m. on April 3, 2022. The business was closed and unoccupied at the time.
