Bicyclist Seriously Injured In East Patchogue Crash With Pickup Truck: Police
A 73-year-old bicyclist was hospitalized with serious injuries after being struck by a pickup truck in East Patchogue, Suffolk County police announced on Saturday, Jan. 18. Gary Green, of Bellport, was riding on Montauk Highway near County Road 101 when a westbound 2013 Ford pickup truck driven by 68-year-old Norman Kurrass, of East Patchogue, hit him at 5:14 p.m., detectives said. Green was rushed to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue for treatment of his injuries. Kurrass was not injured in the crash, according to police. Man, 75, Standing By Disabled SUV Killed In Deerfield Township Crash: Troopers
A Buena man was struck by a pickup and killed while standing next to his disabled SUV in Deerfield Township, authorities said. Marvin Saunders, 75, died in the crash on Thursday, Dec. 19, a state police spokesperson said. Troopers responded to the scene on Big Oak Road at approximately 6:35 p.m. Investigators said Saunders stood next to his disabled Nissan Pathfinder, which was in the eastbound lane. A Ford F-150 traveling east hit Saunders and his Nissan. Saunders was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported. The crash remained under investigation.
