Woman Crashes Into Tree That Falls On Long Island Roadway
A woman was injured after hitting a tree that had fallen across a Long Island roadway due to high winds in the area. The 53-year-old Port Jefferson woman was injured around 3:38 a.m., Tuesday, March 2, while driving a 2008 Chrysler Town & Country van on Main Street in Setauket, said the Suffolk County Police. The van struck the tree that had fallen across the roadway on Main Street, near Harmony Lane, police said. The woman was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Suspect Nabbed After Crashing Into Two Police Cars In Stolen Vehicle On Long Island
A man was apprehended after crashing a stolen vehicle into two police cars while fleeing from officers overnight on Long Island. Christopher Cruz, age 30, stole a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee from the driveway of a Port Jefferson Station residence on Oakland Avenue at approximately 11:40 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, Suffolk County Police said. Members of the Strong Island Animal Rescue League came to the aid of a massive 250-pound buck who got caught in a batting cage net in a Port Jefferson backyard late on Friday, Dec. 11. A deer with a bucket on its head was saved from the waters of Long Island Sound with a little help from two people. The incident took place on Saturday, Nov. 21, near Port Jefferson. A 68-year-old woman who became disoriented and was found lying in a wooded area on Long Island was rescued with an assist by a police canine.
