Port Washington Girl, 15, Has Now Been Missing Over 24 Hours: Here's What We Know
Authorities are asking for help in locating a missing teenager from Long Island.
Elize Avazis, 15, was last seen leaving her Port Washington residence at around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, according to Nassau County Police. Relatives reported her missing later that night.
Avazis is 5-foot-5 and 110 pounds, with long brown hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a gray shirt, jean shorts, and white sneakers. She may travel to Manorhaven, police said.

A man with a history of financial scams successfully conned two Long Island women out of thousands of dollars, police alleged.
Jaime Castillo, age 36, of the Bronx, was arrested on multiple counts of grand larceny on Wednesday, Nov. 20, after carrying out so-called “grandparent scams,” Nassau County Police said.

A Long Island doctor – who once ran his office out of an old Radio Shack and his car – may now spend over a decade behind bars for prescribing his patients thousands of opioid pills at a time, leading to five overdose deaths.

Ikedo Ramen, located in Carle Place at 19 Old Country Road, held its grand opening in late February 2023.
