Robert Leo Stern died peacefully in his sleep on April 14 at home in Rye after a long illness. He was 92 years old and a lifelong resident of Westchester County. Bob was born Aug. 11, 1927, son of Leo and Marjorie Stern of New Rochelle. Using data from the most recent FBI Uniform Crime Report statistics, alarms.org evaluated which cities, towns, and villages are the safest in the suburbs around New York City. A 51-year-old man is in police custody for allegedly supplying the opioids that led to a fatal overdose on Long Island. As part of “Operation Natalie” - the code name for the Nassau County Police Department’s “war against opioids” - Nassau County Police Department and Port Washington Police Department investigators arrested Andrew Banks, of Manhattan, who allegedly supplied the drugs that led to the overdose in Port Washington. Car Lands In Pool Of Long Island Home After Crash, Sending Two Swimming
Two people ended up inside a pool, but not for fun, when the vehicle they were inside landed in the water following a crash. The incident took place around 9:55 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 6, when the driver of the vehicle lost control and drove through a fence and into a pool at a home on Sunnyvale Road in Port Washington, said the Nassau County Police. The car was only partially submerged and both people inside the vehicle were able to escape, police said. Additional details were not available. Port Washington Fire Department responded to the scene.

The popular grocery store in Northern Westchester is going to have a new name and new owner, Turco's is about to become Uncle Giuseppe's Marketplace, which operates six markets on Long Island and one in Bergen County. Investigation Leads To Discovery Of 'Ghost Guns' Stockpile, Arrest Of Long Island Man
A lengthy investigation led to the discovery of a stockpile of so-called "ghost guns" and the arrest of a Long Island man, police said. According to detectives, John Dejana, 47, of Port Washington, was the subject of the investigation by the FBI Long Island Joint Terrorism Task Force. Investigators were able to secure a search warrant of his home and properties which they executed on Thursday, Oct. 3.
