A free ride program is returning to help stop drunk driving before it starts during one of the deadliest holidays on US roads, officials announced.
The Washington Regional Alcohol Program (WRAP) will offer free Lyft rides across DC, Maryland, and Virginia from 4 p.m. Friday, July 4, to 4 a.m. Saturday, July 5, to keep impaired drivers off the road.

A man is in custody in Virginia after allegedly shooting someone he knew during a deadly argument earlier this month in Maryland, police announced.
Aaron Zavier Jefferson, 33, of Upper Marlboro, has been charged with murder in the shooting death of 31-year-old Dequan Clinkscale, of Capitol Heights, according to the Prince George’s County Police Department.
On Saturday, June 7, at approximately 4:40 a.m., officers were called to the 400 block of Warfield Drive for the report of an unresponsive man in a parking garage.
