Snow Emergency In Effect In Greenwich
The Greenwich Board of Selectmen have declared a snow emergency in the town, which was put in effect as of 9 p.m. on Tuesday night. Residents have been asked to remove all parked cars from local streets to allow Public Works crews to efficiently clear roadways of snow, as more than a foot is expected to drop in the region. Power Outages Now Hitting 27 Percent Of New Canaan
As more than 27 percent of New Canaan residents continue to deal with power outages, officials are warning that downed power lines continue to be a problem as trees tumble. A classic example of the danger could be seen Wednesday during the height of the storm when several power lines caught fire on Weed Street, putting on a show for residents until firefighters could arrive to douse the flames. The New Rochelle City Council has unanimously agreed to move forward with the proposed new Public Works Operation Center. City officials announced this week that they have reached the agreement to construct the new Public Works Operations Center - more commonly referred to as City Yard - in the ground level of the busy Home Depot/Costco complex at Nardozzi Place. Residents with business at Poughkeepsie City Hall had to wait until after 10 a.m. Wednesday due to a late opening after the building experienced heating problems causing officials to shut down early Tuesday.
