Oscar Gonzalez, who would have been a sophomore at Brewster High School when school begins Wednesday, was reported missing in a 911 call around 9 p.m. when he was swimming with a group of friends off of a floating dock on Shore Drive in Southeast.  When Putnam County Sheriff's deputies arrived they observed a group of individuals at the end of the dock and an adult male in the water. Lightning Strike Hospitalizes Three In Area A lightning strike on Lake Mahopac sent three people out boating to the hospital and slightly injured another. The incident took place around 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 4 when Putnam County Sheriff's Sgt. Matthew Monroe of the department's Marine Patrol Unit responded to a report of an occupied disabled boat on Lake Mahopac, the department said. During heavy rain and frequent lightning strikes Monroe was able to locate the disabled vessel, near the northwest corner of the lake. All First-Graders Released From Hospital After Ceiling Collapses All students who were at the Madden Outdoor Education Center in Putnam County when a portion of the ceiling collapsed on Friday were released from Putnam Hospital Center by 3:30 p.m., said Ellen Lane, communications director of Putnam-Northern Westchester BOCES. The students, first-graders from Fulmar Road Elementary School in Mahopac, were at Madden participating in a lesson on the food web when a portion of the ceiling gave way at 11:30 a.m.  A teacher notified Mahopac Central School district and called 911.
