20 Busted With 4,176 Heroin Folds, Crack, Cash In Raid On Paterson Open-Air Drug Market
Paterson police raided an open-air drug market, seizing 4,176 heroin folds, 194 bags of crack and $5,549 in proceeds while busting 20 dealers and buyers, authorities said.
Among the accused buyers was a 72-year-old city man caught with four vials of crack, they said.
The Hamilton Avenue sweep between Summer and Lake streets sought to ease residents’ fears for the safety of their children and themselves, city Public Safety Director Jerry Speziale said Friday.

An ex-con from Newark told a federal judge on Thursday that he was the getaway driver in a string of overnight convenience store and gas station robberies in Bergen, Passaic, Hudson, Essex, Middlesex, Morris and Union counties.
Meshach Whagar, 31, admitted during a video-conferenced plea hearing that he was the wheelman during the 20 predawn holdups in November and December of 2017, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito said.

Union County Man Caught With More Than 7,000 Child Porn Files Gets 7+ Years In Fed Pen
A Union County man found with more than 1,000 videos and 6,000 or so images of child pornography was sentenced Wednesday in Newark to more than seven years in federal prison.
Nicholas Pecil, 33, of Rahway, "used a peer-to-peer file-sharing program to download and share videos and images of child sexual abuse," U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito said.

New Jersey drivers' prayers have been answered.
Staring Monday, Nov. 2., the following Motor Vehicle Commissions centers will be by appointment only:
Cherry Hill, Hazlet, Jersey City, Lakewood, Manahawkin, Medford, Somerville, Springfield, Turnersville and Wallington. No walk-in customers will be accepted at those locations.
