Man Shot In Paterson Robbery Seeks Treatment At Jersey Shore Hospital
A Monmouth County man who was shot during a robbery in Paterson showed up at a hospital in Red Bank, authorities said. The 27-year-old victim from Sea Bright sought treatment at Hackensack Meridian Health Riverview Medical Center around 11 a.m. Friday, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora said in a release Saturday. He’d been shot by a robber near the corner of Putnam Street and Rosa Parks Boulevard, nearly 60 miles away, they said. Reports: Monmouth Man Serving 50-Year Prison Sentence For Attempted Murder Gets New Trial
A New Jersey appeals court has thrown out the attempted murder conviction of a Monmouth County man who is serving 50 years in Trenton State Prison for allegedly shooting another man. A three-judge panel found that detectives lied to Anthony Sims Jr., 32, of Long Branch about why they wanted to question him: for an assault rather than the actual charge of attempted murder. Sims was tried and convicted in 2017 for allegedly shooting another man 12 times in Red Bank on April 9, 2014, according to earlier news accounts. Jersey Shore 'Patient Broker' Gets 13 Months For Bribing Drug Users Into Out-Of-State Rehab
A Jersey Shore man was sentenced today to 13 months in federal prison for bribing drug addicts to enroll in rehab centers as far away as California in order to collect kickbacks for himself. Peter J. Costas, 27, of Red Bank, took a deal from the government rather than go to trial, pleading guilty via teleconference with a federal judge in Newark this past May to conspiring to commit health care fraud in exchange for the sentence. Special train schedules are in effect on the North Jersey Coast and Northeast Corridor lines due to last week's derailment in Central Jersey. Red Bank HS Cancels Graduation After Senior Tests Positive For Coronavirus
An in-person commencement ceremony planned this week for 321 Class of 2020 graduates from Red Bank Regional High School has been canceled due to coronavirus. A New Jersey State Police sergeant who first used pepper spray to try and stop a Poughkeepsie man who assaulted him on a shoulder of the Garden State Parkway finally shot him to subdue him, authorities on Monday said dash cam video shows. Red Bank Police Pursue Vehicle After Drive-By Shooting
Red Bank police were in pursuit of a vehicle after a report of shots fired, authorities said. Police responded to W. Westside Avenue near Route 35 about 1 p.m. Friday on a complaint of gunfire, Red Bank police said.
