Storm Knocks Out Power To Thousands, Brings Down Trees, Power Lines In Putnam, Dutchess
Thousands are without power on Long Island as storms rolled through the region, bringing whipping winds of more than 70 mph that toppled tree limbs and downed power lines.
As of 1 p.m. on Monday, April 13, Central Hudson was reporting that 17,493 of its 120,208 customers were without power, while 2,580 of its 5,151 customers were reporting outages.
NYSEG was reporting 13,619 of its Putnam customers were without power, while 868 in Dutchess were left in the dark.

Two Men Nabbed In Connection With String Of Area Burglaries, Police Say
Two men were arrested in connection with a series of alleged burglaries that included a church, a business, and a shed in the area.
Dutchess County residents Stephen Dachs, 22, of Red Hook, and Xavier Christiansen-Mulher, 22, of Rhinebeck, were arrested Tuesday, Dec. 10, following an investigation by Rhinebeck police into area burglaries, said Rhinebeck Police officer Darren Bondar.
According to police, the business and church, along with the shed, were broken into on the morning of Dec. 10, with several items stolen.

12 From Area Charged With DWI In State Police Stops
A dozen residents were among those removed from public roadways by New York State Police troopers for alleged impaired driving.
In total, State Police in Troop K arrested 21 allegedly impaired drivers over the weekend in the Hudson Valley.

25 Charged In Impaired Driving Crackdown In Area
During a Halloween crackdown on impaired drivers, law enforcement agencies in Dutchess County arrested more than two dozen drivers for alleged DWI.
Between Thursday, Oct. 31, and Sunday, Nov. 3, local, county and state police agencies teamed to increase DWI checkpoints and saturation patrols throughout Dutchess.
In total, 26 arrests were made, 25 of which were for impaired driving. The crackdown was the first of eight planned during the holiday season.
