A 66-year-old man shot and seriously injured a woman before killing himself at a home in Ridge, Suffolk County Police said on Saturday, Feb. 15.
Gerard Senatore, a resident of the home, shot a 68-year-old woman twice before barricading himself inside the house, police said. Officers from the Seventh Precinct responded to a 911 call about the shooting at 28 Woodbrook Drive at 12:56 p.m., according to police.

A man was seriously injured in a crash involving multiple vehicles on Norfleet Lane in Coram, Suffolk County Police announced on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025.
Anthony Maynes, 33, of Ronkonkoma, was driving a 2024 Mercedes Benz SUV westbound on Norfleet Lane when he attempted to pass another car but sideswiped a 2007 Toyota Camry. The SUV then hit a parked 2015 Toyota Tacoma, broke through a fence, struck a tree, and came to a stop, police said.
The crash happened at approximately 4:25 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024, in front of 114 Norfleet Lane, authorities said.

Joseph Cawley, age 37, was arrested at his Ridge home on Monday, April 29, following an investigation by Suffolk County Police.
According to investigators, a Shirley man reached out to the agency saying he had paid Cawley for an auto insurance policy on Saturday, March 16, but never received any identification cards for the policy.
In all, the man paid more than $1,550 for a policy that did not exist.

A Long Island man is begging for his fiancé's dog to be returned after a devasting fire left her fighting for her life.
The fire broke out around 5:30 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 20, at a home on Manhasset Trail in Ridge, said the Suffolk County Police.
During the fire, one of the residents, Patricia Slawinski, suffered burns to 40 percent of her body and remains in intensive care fighting for her life, said Lin Richburg.
