Charges Upgraded After Victim In Rockaway Crash Dies Charges against a Rockaway woman were upgraded after the passenger in her car died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash, authorities said. Samantha Viscardi, 22, was behind the wheel of a vehicle that crashed near Green Pond Road on Feb. 2, Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp and Rockaway Police Chief Martin McPardland, Jr. said in a joint release. The passenger in the vehicle was critically injured after Viscardi's vehicle went into a guardrail, closing the area around 4:30 p.m., according to multiple reports. Prosecutor: Rockaway Woman Charged With Assault By Auto, Passenger Sustained Serious Injuries A 22-year-old Rockaway woman was charged with assault by auto after her one passenger sustained "serious bodily injuries" in a crash over the weekend, authorities said. Samantha Viscardi was arrested and charged with the third-degree crime following the Feb. 2, single-car crash near Green Pond Road, Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Garfield Native Christopher Kanarski Dies, 35 Christopher Kanarski died on Nov. 16. He was 35 years old.  Kanarski was born and Passaic and raised in Garfield. He moved to Rockaway and graduated from Rockaway High School in 2001. Kanarski earned his associates degree from Morristown Community College and had been working for Verizon in East Hanover. Services were held Friday. Interment was at St. Mary's Cemetery in Saddle Brook.
