Damaging winds with gusts that could cause power outings are the main threat, the National Weather Service said in issuing the alert. Flash flooding, frequent lightning and large hail are possible.
It lasts until 11 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, for these areas:
Long Island,
Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, Orange, and Ulster counties in the Hudson Valley,

Despite Shutdown, New Siren Test Scheduled For Indian Point

Despite being closed down, there will be a test of the Indian Point Energy Center emergency notification sirens during a test of the system in Buchanan this week.

The test will happen at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 11, with sirens being sounded at full volume, which is expected to be heard in parts of Westchester, Rockland, Orange, and Putnam counties.

Covid-19: NY Seven-Day Infection Rate Now At Lowest Level In Months; Latest From Hudson Valley
The seven-day rolling positive infection rate for New Yorkers being tested for COVID-19 is at its lowest in several months as the state, and Hudson Valley, continue recovering from the holiday wave of new infections.
Statewide, the positive infection rate is at 2.80 percent, the lowest since mid-November, while there are 823 COVID-19 patients in ICU, and 504 intubated with the virus, both the lowest in New York since early December.
