Man Charged In Linden Bar Stabbing Released
A Linden man accused of stabbing a 45-year-old victim in the chest outside of a local bar earlier this month was charged then released by police, authorities said Monday. Officers responding to Mike's Tavern on Roselle Street found the victim outside with a stab wound in the chest around 10:40 p.m. Oct. 9, Linden Police Lt. Christopher Guenther said. The victim was taken to the Trinitas Regional Medical Center with the non life-threatening injury, and Carrington Harrell, 50, was identified as a suspect. The community continues to rally for the family of a Linden teen whose body was found in a Roselle lake more than a month ago. Jayanna Rosechelle Francois, 14, was found dead in the lake at Warinanco Park in Roselle Aug. 10. More than $3,100 had been raised on a GoFundMe for the former McManus Middle School student's family as of Sept. 23. Jayanna would have started her freshman year at Linden High School this month. Authorities: Linden Police Bust Roselle Man With Illegal Loaded Handgun
A Roselle man was jailed after Linden police officers found him with a loaded handgun over the weekend, authorities said Tuesday. Officers responding to reports of a man with a gun stopped Corey Milligan, 51, on Roselle Street around 2:50 a.m. Saturday, Linden Police Lt. Christopher Guenther said. Police recovered the semi-automatic gun a loaded with a large-capacity magazine, and arrested Milligan without incident, Guenther said. He was remanded to the Union County Jail pending a scheduled appearance in Superior Court.

Woman's Body Recovered From Roselle Pond
A woman's body was recovered from a Roselle lake Monday morning, authorities said. The body was spotted floating in the water at Warinanco Park just before 7 a.m., initial reports say. Emergency rescue teams and firefighters responded for recovery. This is a developing story. Check back for more.

A 24-year-old man has been charged in a Roselle drive-by shooting that left two people injured last fall, authorities said Friday. Police Body Cam Footage In 3 Union County Departments Under Review To Improve Training
Body camera footage from three Union County police departments will be reviewed in a new program designed to improve training. The Union County Prosecutor's Office will be reviewing footage from Roselle, Cranford and Plainfield police departments as part of the 90-day program. A Union County grand jury returned a nine-count indictment against a Roselle man accused of setting a series of fires in Linden. Marcus D. Multi-alarm Fire Breaks Out At Union Home Sunday, Woman Reportedly Hurt
Firefighters were in the 1900 block of Hillside Avenue in Union Sunday night where fire was ripping through a private home. East Orange Police Officer Facing More Child Sex Assault Charges
An East Orange police sergeant arrested earlier this month on charges involving the sex assault of minors 20 years ago now faces additional charges, the Union County Prosecutor's Office said. Edward Giles, 59, is accused of committing at least some of the crimes at his Roselle home.
