Labor Day Impaired Driving Crackdown Period Leads To Arrests Of 60 Area Residents
Dozens of drivers were arrested in Dutchess County during an impaired driving crackdown period over Labor Day Weekend. Between Saturday, Aug. 17 and Monday, Sept. 2, state, county and local police agencies throughout Dutchess County conducted details that included sobriety checkpoints and emphasis patrols countywide, as well as their regular patrols. Video: Teen Takes Police On High-Speed Chase That Ends In Area
An 18-year-old was arrested after taking police on a high-speed chase that ended in Dutchess County. A police pursuit began at approximately 2:45 a.m. on Sunday, June 2, when the teen - whose name has not been released - failed to comply with officers attempting to pull him over in the City of Poughkeepsie, police said. Couple Driving 91 MPH On PIP Had Counterfeit Credit Cards, Police Say
A couple is facing a series of charges after being busted by New York State Police troopers while allegedly in possession of multiple fraudulent credit cards and a fake driver’s license in the Hudson Valley. While traveling on the Palisades Parkway in Haverstraw on Friday, May 18, troopers stopped Rosendale resident Kareem Davis, 31, for driving 91 mph in a 55 mph zone. A 58-year-old woman visiting Mount Saint Mary College's Desmond Campus in the Town of the Newburgh became the Hudson Valley's third storm-related fatality and second from Orange County when a tree fell on her vehicle, police said. State Police troopers busted several motorists for driving while impaired overnight in the Hudson Valley. Since the holiday season, New York State Police and local law enforcement agencies say they've been “out in full force” to curtail impaired drivers in the region. On Wednesday night, state police troopers in Middletown stopped Middletown resident Evan Pratt, 22, on Wisner Road for a vehicle and traffic law violation.
