Westchester Resident Who Exited Vehicle After Crash Struck, Killed By Car, Police Say
Police are investigating after a man who stepped out of his vehicle following a crash was struck and killed by a car in the Hudson Valley, according to New York State Police. The crash happened around 6:15 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1 in Orange County on Route 17 eastbound in the town of Monroe. A preliminary investigation revealed that Westchester County resident Garfield E. Elliot, age 47, from New Rochelle, was involved in a vehicle crash where he was the operator of one of the vehicles, state police from the Monroe barracks said. Crash Destroys FedEx Tractor-Trailer On Busy Roadway In Region
A driver managed to escape severe injuries during a crash of a FedEx tractor-trailer. The crash took place in Sullivan County in the town of Thompson on Route 17 around 7 a.m., on Tuesday, Aug. 30. According to the Rock Hill Fire Department, the driver was able to exit the vehicle on his own and was immediately transported to the hospital by Mobile medic EMS with non-life-threatening injuries. The department was assisted by: New York State Police, State Department of Transportation, Mobile medic EMS, Rock Hill EMS Prestige Towing.

Woman Killed In Hudson Valley Crash Remembered As Talented Hairdresser
A woman who died in a car crash on a busy Hudson Valley roadway is being remembered as a talented hairdresser. Orange County resident Samantha Turnbull, age 34, of Port Jervis, died Friday, June 17, according to her obituary. A woman was killed and a 21-year-old injured in a two-vehicle crash on a busy Hudson Valley roadway. A man from the region was killed after his car rear-ended a tractor-trailer on a busy roadway. The crash took place in Sullivan County in the town of Mamakating around 6 p.m., Wednesday, May 25. Multi-Vehicle Crash Shuts Down Stretch Of Busy Roadway In Area
A busy roadway in the area is shut down to one lane following a seven-vehicle crash including a school bus with eight students aboard. The crash took place early Wednesday, Jan. 26, on Route 17 in the Orange County town of Wallkill, said Trooper Steven Nevel. Although one lane of traffic has opened, traffic is being diverted at Crystal Run Road, Nevel said. No information regarding injuries was available at this time. A woman from the region was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Christmas Eve. Sullivan County resident Lisa Kottl, age 31, of Bloomingburg, was killed around 7:30 a.m., Friday, Dec. 24, after losing control of her vehicle. According to Sullivan County Undersheriff Eric Chaboty, when deputies responded to the report of the crash on Route 17 in the town of Thompson, they found a 2007 Nissan Altima had hit a water diversion ditch next to the exit and rolled over.
