An overdosing heroin user was blacked out and gasping when Elmwood Park police were called to a Route 46 hotel. Unfortunately, the 32-year-old overdose victim was wedged between the bathroom door and toilet, making it impossible for them to get to him, Police Chief Michael Foligno said. A driver from Long Island who led police from several towns on a high-speed pursuit on and off Route 46 was seized after he ran out of gas, authorities said. A Jersey City man in a stolen car stopped by Ridgefield Park police on Route 46 tried to run but was quickly captured, authorities said. Sgt. Six people were displaced by a fire that ripped through a home on Main Street in Hackettstown. On Monday, Jan. 23, at 2:22 p.m., Hackettstown police, firefighters and the Rescue Squad responded to 300 Main Street, which is a residential over commercial wood framed building, in reference to a structure fire.
