Brick PD: Home Depot Shoplifter Nabbed With Nearly $5,000 Worth Of Power Tools A 28-year-old Whiting man was caught shoplifting more than $4,900 worth of power tools and other merchandise from a Route 70 Home Depot, Brick police said. Michael Schecton loaded the merchandise into a shopping cart and then ran out when a security officer tried to stop him, they said.Detective Sgt. Lawrence Petrola and Detectives Jeff Person and Matt Firneno arrived and chased down Schecton. A search of Schecton’s vehicle turned up a bag of gold jewelry believed stolen, police said. Brick Police Arrest Pair On Multiple Drug Charges Two people were arrested on multiple drug charges on Tuesday in Brick, police said. About 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Brick police observed a driver commit several motor vehicle offenses near Cedar Bridge Avenue and Route 70. K-9 officer Scott Smith and his K-9 partner Echo conducted a sniff search of the vehicle during which the police dog provided a positive indication for the presence of narcotics.
