Car Crashes Into Garrison Fire Station On Busy Day Of Voting
Voters were a little startled when a car drove into the side of the Garrison Firehouse, a busy polling place, but no one was injured. The incident took place around 12:43 p.m. Tuesday when a voter arriving at the fire station on Route 9 failed to stop in time while parking on the north side and hit the building, said Garrison Fire Commissioner David Brower. An alert was sent to parents of students after a man approached two students at a bus stop in the area. According to the alert from the Wappinger Central School District, the incident took place around 7:57 a.m. Friday when the two female Sheafe Road Elementary School students walking to the bus stop noticed a dark gray Subaru Outback parked in a local business, on Route 9 near Wenliss Terrace. Separate Crashes Cause Gridlock On I-87 In Westchester, Rockland
This story has been updated. Separate crashes caused gridlock in both directions on I-87 on the new Tappan Zee Bridge and in Rockland County early Saturday evening. A crash with injuries took out the left lane at the start of the new TZB span in Westchester on northbound (Rockland-bound I-87). There were stop-and-go delays to Route 9 before the lane reopened. Busy Bridge To Be Closed For Weeks In Westchester
The Sensaqua Bridge will be closed for weeks as contracting crews get set to perform maintenance on the structure in Westchester. The New York State Department of Transportation announced that the bridge will be closed beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday, July 23 in Croton-on-Hudson, with construction work expected to last an estimated 80 days. Three Injured In Head-On Putnam Crash Airlifted To Hospital
Three local residents injured in a head-on crash on Route 9 had to be airlifted to Westchester Medical Center, officials said. The crash occurred around 5 p.m. Wednesday when a vehicle driving south veered into the oncoming lane and struck a northbound car, said state police.
