Crash Sends One To Hospital, Closes Route 9W For Over An Hour
One person was injured during a two-vehicle crash on Route 9W when one vehicle sideswiped another and a person became trapped in one of the vehicles. The crash, which took place around 11:50 a.m., Tuesday, May 12, in Rockland County northbound on 9W in Piermont, closed the roadway for over an hour. Snapped Chain Smashes Palisades Parkway Supervisor In Head
A 62-year-old supervisor at the Palisades Interstate Parkway maintenance yard was hospitalized Wednesday after a chain snapped and hit him in the head. The supervisor was working on a car when the mishap occurred at the Alpine facility just off off Route 9W around 11 a.m., responders said. He didn’t lose consciousness but was bleeding from a head wound, they said. The Closter Volunteer Ambulance and Rescue Corps took him to Hackensack Meridian Pascack Valley Medical Center in Westwood to be examined.

A 67-year-old bicyclist was hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle Sunday on Route 9W in Alpine. AirMed One flew the victim to Hackensack University Medical Center following the crash just after 1:30 p.m., responders said. He sustained a traumatic head injury, they said.

Passenger Killed After Car Crashes Into Utility Pole On Route 9W
A passenger in a vehicle that crashed into a utility pole on Route 9W was killed. The single-vehicle crash took place around 1:22 a.m., Wednesday, April 22, in Ulster County in the town of Saugerties. When Saugerties police responded to a 911 call they found a 2000 Honda Accord had hit the pole after leaving the east shoulder of the roadway, said Saugerties Chief of Police Joseph Sinagra. Person Found Dead In Driver's Seat After Fiery Route 9W Crash, Police Say
One person was killed following a single-vehicle crash and fire on a section of Route 9W. It happened in Orange County around 12:38 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 12, on the southbound side in Cornwall, said Cornwall Police Chief Todd Hazard. When officers arrived on the scene they found the vehicle fully engulfed in fire, the chief said. Ramp Closure Scheduled On I-84
The New York State Department of Transportation is advising motorists of a ramp closure on Interstate 84. The Department says that a ramp closure is scheduled for I-84 westbound to Exit 10 (Route 9W northbound) in the Orange County town of Newburgh. The ramp is scheduled to close Monday, Nov. 4 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. while crews perform maintenance activities, weather permitting.
