Latina Police Captain Makes History In Hudson County
The North Bergen Police Department's first female police captain also happens to be Hudson County's first Latina police captain. Cynthia Montero is in her 13th year with the department. She became the first Latina supervisor in the department's history when she was promoted to sergeant in 2014. Paramus Wrestling Star, 21, Killed In Crash
Paramus wrestling star Alex Sebahie was killed in a crash on the Garden State Parkway in South Jersey before dawn New Year’s Day. The Nissan Altima driven by Sebahie went off the parkway, hit a utility pole and came to rest on the roadway around 4:15 a.m., New Jersey State Police Trooper Lawrence Peele said. Sebahie, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene, Peele said. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home with a funeral service and interment set for Monday. Once considered one of the top high school football prospects in the country, a now-34-year-old Paterson man was charged with Friday's strong-armed robbery of cellphones from an Elmwood Park Verizon store. Chenry Lewis was arrested Saturday after he returned to the Route 46 store, Police Chief Michael Foligno said. Then he smiled for his mugshot. The night before, Lewis used force to flee with the phones, turning what began as a snatch-and-run into a robbery, the chief said. Authorities have "no idea" why Lewis went back, Foligno said. A Mahwah teen had help from an NFL athlete with her promposal. Knowing that her boyfriend Sam Darrow is a major Atlanta Falcons fan, Brianna Stoohs had wide receiver Mohamed Sanu record a video asking Darrow to prom. "You better say yes," Sanu said in the video, which Stoohs played for Sanu over lunch at Boomburger this week. His reaction was priceless. And he said yes.
