Drunk Driver Hits Pole, Flips Car Outside Malta Dunkin’, Police Say
A Saratoga Springs woman was arrested after allegedly driving drunk and causing a rollover crash in Malta late Monday night, Aug. 25.
The crash happened around 9:45 p.m. on state Route 67 west of Route 9, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators determined that Alyssa Joly, 25, was driving while intoxicated when she left the roadway, struck a light pole, and overturned in the westbound lane, police said. Her vehicle came to rest in front of a Dunkin’ restaurant.
Joly was also speeding and failed to stay in her lane before the crash, according to police.

A man working as a ride share driver is accused of trying to sexually abuse a child passenger in Saratoga County.
Thomas Cipriano, 53, of Halfmoon, was arrested Thursday, Aug. 7, on charges of attempted rape, unlawful imprisonment, and endangering the welfare of a child, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators allege that Cipriano was operating as a ride share driver on Friday, Aug. 1, when he attempted to engage in sexual contact with a person under the age of 15 in Clifton Park, police said.

A Saratoga County man is accused of threatening a sheriff’s deputy with a knife during a search of his home.
Deputies were conducting an investigation at a Clifton Park residence on Wednesday, July 30, when 60-year-old Thomas Carson, a resident, pointed a large knife at them, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office.
“Carson is accused of intentionally placing a police officer in reasonable fear of physical injury, serious physical injury, or death by pointing a large, fixed blade at them,” the agency said in a statement.

The minor, who was not named due to their age, was taken into custody Tuesday, June 17, in connection with the death of Simon Brault, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office.
An investigation determined the minor joined 18-year-old Jaiden Ildefanso in repeatedly stabbing Brault on Beresford Road in Clifton Park on Saturday, May 31, police said. Brault later died at Albany Medical Center Hospital.

Charles Ferrara, 52, of Schenectady, was arrested on suspicion of felony grand larceny on Sunday, June 8, following an investigation by the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office.
Ferrara was hired by a Clifton Park resident to perform handyman-type work, and accepted a check for $1,045 from the client, deputies said.
