Local Business Owner Helps Police Apprehend Wanted Fugitive
An area business owner helped police capture a fugitive from justice wanted for a robbery. Christopher Rega, age 39, undomiciled, was arrested in Ulster County on Tuesday, Feb. 1, after Saugerties Police responded to the Wenton Motel located at 3127 Route 9W in the Town of Saugerties for a reported disturbance on Monday, Jan. 31. A woman from the area was arrested twice within hours after police said she violated an order of protection. Ulster County resident Christine Diliberto, age 43, of the village of Saugerties was arrested the first time around 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, after Saugerties police responded to a 911 call on East Bridge Street for a welfare check. Four people were hospitalized in the Hudson Valley after a tractor-trailer driver rear-ended a motorist on I-87, New York State Police investigators announced. Shortly after 1:45 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 20, troopers in Ulster County responded to a report of a four-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer and three other vehicles in the southbound lanes of I-87 in Saugerties. One person was killed and another injured after the Jeep Cherokee they were driving was hit by a train in the region. The incident took place around 4 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 1, in Ulster County when Kingston Police responded to a report of a car struck by a train at the Smith Avenue crossing. An area man was nabbed for alleged driving under the influence after crashing and rolling his vehicle. Nicholas A. Duffy-Godwin, age 24, of the hamlet of Palenville in Greene County, was arrested around 2:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 27, in Ulster County following the crash in Saugerties. An area woman who was engaged to be married to a dump truck driver who was recently killed in a vehicle crash with a school bus has started a petition to have a stoplight installed at the intersection where the crash occurred. One person was killed during a two-vehicle crash between a school bus and a dump truck in the Hudson Valley. It happened around 8:50 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 14 in Ulster County, on Route 9W in the town of Saugerties. Woman Found Dead In Hudson Valley
Police are asking the public for help in an investigation into the death of a 63-year-old woman in the area. The woman, identified as Rose M. Mayhew-Moses, age 63, of Saugerties, was found when Ulster County Sheriff's deputies responded to a home in the Town of Olive around 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 25. A preliminary investigation suggests Mayhew-Moses was visiting relatives at the location and may have drowned in a body of water on the property.
