ID Released For Long Island Man Killed In Crash Involving Drunk Driver, Police Say
Police have identified a man who was killed during a two-vehicle crash in which a Long Island man was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
Miguel Berdecia, age 46, of Central Islip, was killed around 12:25 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 8, on Sunrise Highway in Sayville, said the Suffolk County Police.
According to police, Berdecia was driving a 2011 Toyota Yaris eastbound on the Sunrise Highway, near Exit 50, when the vehicle struck the center median, followed by the guardrail of the right lane, before becoming disabled sideways in the center lane, Suffolk County Police said.

Woman In Distress Swimming Rescued From Long Island Sound
Emergency responders rescued a woman who was in distress while swimming in the Long Island Sound.
The incident happened early Sunday morning, July 18 in Suffolk County, off Shoreham Beach in Shoreham.
A woman called 911 to report that her friend, Johanna Scheiber, 21, of Sayville, was swimming in the sound and the caller, who was on Shoreham Beach, lost sight of Scheiber at approximately 6:50 a.m.

A Long Island man has been charged with boating while intoxicated after the vessel he was operating struck a jetty and one of his passengers went overboard and is now missing.
Jack Benjamin, age 25, of Farmingville, was operating a 2003 Parker center console boat in the Great South Bay when the vessel struck a jetty in Sayville at the end of Browns River Road at around 1:25 a.m. Monday, July 5, Suffolk County Police.

A 15-year-old Long Island boy who went missing has been found.
Michael Tyler Peterson, who goes by Tyler, had last been seen leaving his Sayville residence at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 29, Suffolk County Police said, in issuing a Silver Alert.
Earlier Wednesday morning, June 30, police announced he has been located, unharmed.

Police ID Long Island Man Killed In Wrong-Way Fatal Crash Involving Allegedly Drunk Driver
The identity has been released of a Long Island man killed in a wrong-way crash involving an allegedly drunk driver, according to police.
Noel Pastora, age 56, of Hempstead, was driving a 2000 Dodge Dakota westbound in the eastbound lanes of Sunrise Highway (Route 27), west of Locust Avenue, in Oakdale when his vehicle struck an eastbound sedan around 1:50 a.m. Sunday, June 27, Suffolk County Police said.
The driver of the sedan, now identified as Dominick Capizola, age 73, of Sayville, was pronounced dead at the scene.
