19: More Bergen, Passaic County Schools Go Remote
Several schools in Bergen and Passaic counties made the switch to online learning due to a number of positive cases. In Maywood, two different teachers in the Memorial School tested positive, according to a letter sent by district Superintendent Michael Jordan Nov. 24. The school is closed out of an abundance of caution from Nov. 25 through Dec. 7, Jordan said. All Dumont schools went virtual on Nov. 20 and will resume in-person learning on Dec. 7 due to "a number of reported cases [and] the shortage of available staff," the district said. New cases of COVID-19 have been discovered in several schools in one city, but - in a move that Gov. Lamont has been pushing - there will no closure. On Friday, Nov. 20, the New Britain School District was notified that one member from each of the DiLoreto Elementary and Middle School, New Britain High School, and Vance Elementary School communities had tested positive for COVID-19, according to the New Britain Herald. Another Westchester school district is going remote after learning of new positive cases that caused a staffing shortage. A rural school district has quickly switched to remote-learning as the number of COVID-19 cases in the community rises. 19: WMass City Reverts To Full-Remote Education
A small Western Massachusetts city is the latest city to join the full-remote learning club. On Tuesday, Nov. 17, Easthampton School Committee voted 4-3 to revert students to full-remote learning, according to WesternMass News.
