Multiple Police Agencies Respond To Large Fight In Toms River Multiple police units were dispatched to the Days Hotel on Route 37 in Toms River for a large fight in a parking lot, authorities said. While responding on Sunday, Dec. 17 at 12:45 a.m., officers received further information regarding possible gunshots. Further investigation revealed evidence that shots were fired but no victims were struck.  One male suffered a seizure during the incident and was transported to Community Medical Center by Silverton First Aid.  The investigation is ongoing at this time. Jersey Shore Town Warns Beachgoers They May Be Ticketed If Swimming Without Lifeguards With a rip currents warning in effect due to Hurricane Lee, one Jersey Shore borough has warned beachgoers they might be ticketed if caught swimming. "The Seaside Heights Borough Code prohibits entering the ocean when lifeguards are not on duty and when conditions are otherwise unsafe to enter the water," Seaside Heights wrote on Facebook.  Violators are subject to a municipal summons with a fine between $100 and $1,250, the borough said. "STAY OUT, STAY ALIVE," the post concluded.

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection banned swimming at the beach off Hancock Avenue in Seaside Heights Borough after water samples showed high levels of colony forming units of enterococci.
