Man Admits To Stabbing Gas Station Attendant In Robbery
A Connecticut man who stabbed a gas station employee in the back during a string of armed robberies pleaded guilty to a federal robbery charge. New Haven resident Vinson Singleton, Jr., 25, pleaded guilty in New Haven federal court to one count of Hobbs Act robbery. He will face up to 20 years in prison when he is sentenced on Jan. 28 next year. An area man was arrested for assault in connection with an alleged road-rage incident that left a woman injured. Benoy Varghese, 32, of Congers, was arrested on Monday, July 1, and charged with assault and criminal mischief after reportedly hitting a woman in Stony Point, said Stony Point Police Lt. Five Stratford businesses were fined after allegedly selling tobacco products to an underage decoy during an enforcement check. The enforcement on Wednesday, May 1, was conducted by the Stratford Police, along with members from the state Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services and the Tobacco Prevention and Enforcement Program, said Stratford Police Capt. State Police carried out plain-clothes checks of 16 different Dutchess County retailers that sell alcohol on Saturday, April 27. Police in Greenburgh went to work this week, targeting smoke shops that sell tobacco products to underage customers, leading to several arrests. On Monday, Feb. 4, members of the Greenburgh Police Department Drug and Alcohol Task Force conducted enforcement in the area, making three arrests of three employees at three different stores. A serial ATM bandit wanted for at least three burglaries has been nabbed by Greenwich Police. Joshua B. Moore, 37, of Shelton, was arrested on Tuesday for a series of burglaries in which the ATMs had been emptied of cash overnight dating back as far as August 2017, said Capt. A Northern Westchester woman suffered injuries and a gas station convenience store was significantly damaged on Monday when a car slid off an icy roadway in Thornwood, fire officials confirmed.
