A sheriff’s deputy apprehended a man in possession of semiautomatic weapons after he allegedly attempted to resist arrest following a traffic stop on I-84 in Putnam County. Putnam County Sheriff Robert Langley, Jr. announced the arrest of New Mexico resident Pedro Ruiz-Rivas on Monday, who is facing charges that include two felony counts of criminal possession of a firearm, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration and other violations. Officials are warning residents about a phone scam sweeping the area in which the caller claims to a representative of the Sheriff's Office civil division and demands payment for a legal matter.
