Dreadlocked Gunman Who Fled Identified, Caught, Paterson PD Says
Paterson detectives captured a gunman who fled from them last week, authorities said.
Memphis Morales, 18, was relatively easy to identify because of his blond-tipped, shoulder-length dreads and a multi-colored tie-dyed shirt wrapped around his waist, Public Safety Director Jerry Speziale said.
Morales ran from detectives who’d approached him and nearly two dozen men who were blocking a sidewalk at the corner of Keen and Mercer streets last Tuesday, Speziale said.
Morales ran down Rosa Parks Boulevard toward Warren Street, tossing a gun as he went, the director said.

A Northern Westchester man pleaded guilty to attempted murder and a weapons charge after shooting a man in Ossining last year, authorities announced.
Mario Mieles, 31, of Ossining, pleaded guilty this week to attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon after shooting at a man nine times with a semi-automatic pistol, striking him multiple times.
Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr., said that at approximately 4:45 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10, last year, Mieles shot a man with a semi-automatic pistol several times on Van Cortlandt Avenue in Ossining.

Passaic County sheriff’s officers who stopped a couple for having an obstructed view in their 16-year-old Chevy seized an array of weapons – among them, five knives, a BB gun, ammunition and an expandable metal baton, authorities said.
Officers Christopher Savitsky and Tomaz Cydzik smelled marijuana after stopping the red 2002 Chevrolet Malibu on northbound Route 23 in Wayne last weekend, Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik said.

Felon Caught With Gun In Stamford Park
Police nabbed a convicted felon for possession of a gun and drugs after receiving a tip that he would be at a Stamford park.
Travis Vanterpool-Gordon, 22, of Stamford, was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of a hallucinogen, criminal possession of a gun and interfering with police following a search on Tuesday around 10:30 p.m., according to Capt. Richard Conklin.
Officers in the Narcotics and Organized Crime Squad received word that Vanterpool-Gordon, described as a black male with dreadlocks, 5-foot-9, was at Hatchfield Park off Perry Street with a gun, Conklin said.

A convicted felon in Connecticut is set to spend more than three years behind bars after being sentenced for illegally possessing a firearm and ammunition, which he attempted to sell.
