Plainfield Man, 48, Fatally Struck By Car On Route 22 A 48-year-old man was killed after a car hit struck him on Route 22 in North Plainfield, authorities said. Jason A. Kohl, of Plainfield, was walking west between North Drive and Watchung Avenue when a car struck him around 4:50 a.m. Sunday, North Plainfield police said. The driver, a 38-year-old Somerville man, stopped and has not been charged. Kohl was pronounced dead at the scene. A judge scheduled a Sept. 27 sentencing for Laura Gonzalez, 38, who was found guilty of child endangerment and simple assault following a trial in Somerville, authorities said. Meanwhile, she remained held in the Somerset County Jail.
