Israeli Helicopter Pilot Killed In NJ Crash (

Authorities have identified the 44-year-old pilot killed in a helicopter crash on Thursday, Aug. 31. Josef Yitzhak of Israel died in the crash, South Brunswick police said. "We worked with Israeli Consul and Israeli police overnight to notify his family," police said on Twitter. Police Chief Raymond Hayducka extends his deepest sympathy to the pilot's family. The pilot's Robinson R22 copter went down in a South Brunswick canal near Princeton at 3:15 p.m., the FAA said. A pair of men from Central New Jersey were sentenced in connection with a fatal street race, authorities said. An off-duty South Brunswick police officer and his mother are credited with saving a boy who was drifting out to the ocean, authorities said. Sgt. William Merkler and his mother Doreen helped save the 5-year-old boy who had drifted towards the bay on a white swan float. The rescue occurred at Amherst Beach in Berkeley, police said, citing Patch. South Brunswick police seek tips on a suspicious vehicle that stopped to talk to a girl near Wawa on Route 27 last week. Her parent called the police on Wednesday, July 19 after the incident, they said. Detectives were able to find video of a blue Honda Civic seen in the area at around the time the incident may have taken place, police said. A Somerset County man has admitted to committing a sexual assault at a New Jersey state park, authorities said. Rogelio Calyeca Postrero, 38, of Raritan pleaded guilty to first-degree aggravated sexual assault, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone. Calyeca Postrero previously was charged by the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office on Aug. 5, 2022, for violent sexual assaults in Bridgewater on July 18, 2021, and Franklin Township on May 16, 2022, according to earlier reports. Pharmacy Robbed In Central Jersey: Police
A pharmacy reportedly was robbed by three suspects in South Brunswick, authorities said. On Thursday, June, at 7 p.m., police received a report of a robbery at South Brunswick Pharmacy at 485 Georges Road. Three suspects stole multiple items, and then fled the scene on Georges Road toward Quincy Circle, South Brunswick police said. Police are asking residents in the area of Georges Road, Lincoln Lane, and Quincy Circle to check exterior video footage for any helpful information. Anyone with information can contact Det.
