Teaneck Driver Charged In Critical Hit-Run Route 46 Pedestrian Crash In South Hackensack
An intensive investigation led to the arrest of a Teaneck man who authorities say struck a 22-year-old Englewood pedestrian on Route 46 in South Hackensack earlier this month. Another vehicle first hit the victim as he tried to cross the highway at Philips Avenue around 1:45 a.m. June 2, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said Friday. Repeat Sex Offender From Englewood Charged With Sexually Assaulting Minor
A registered sex offender who previously served time for assaulting a 15-year-old girl in a South Hackensack motel is charged with raping another teen in his Englewood apartment. Garrett Haskins, 44, was taken to a state processing facility in Trenton -- for violating parole -- after being processed at the Bergen County Jail, records show. The parole violation will keep him imprisoned at least until next May, pending the outcome of the new charges. A brief police pursuit ended Friday afternoon with a crash, a search and the arrests of two men in River Edge who authorities said used anti-theft devices to shoplift from Bloomingdale's at Hackensack's Shops at Riverside off Route 4. Jordan Gulley, 24, and 19-year-old Count Victor Cooks remained held in the Bergen County Jail on Saturday. Easter Sunday Fire Severely Damages Little Ferry Home
UPDATE: No one was injured in an Easter Sunday fire that severely damaged a Little Ferry home. The two-alarm blaze broke out around 11 a.m. outside and extended up the side and through the attic of the 2½-story wood-frame Mariani Drive home, responders said. Little Ferry firefighters were joined by their colleagues from Hackensack, Hasbrouck Heights, Moonachie and South Hackensack. They had the fire knocked in 20 or so minutes.

South Hackensack police nabbed a fugitive teen from Passaic who took off after a Hasbrouck Heights traffic stop in Lodi, ending a search involving officers from several towns. It began when Hasbrouck Heights Police Officer Nicholas Brunetti stopped a silver Honda Accord near the Felician University campus with three occupants and a strong smell of marijuana coming from inside, Detective Lt.
